Angels of Justice

Angles of Justice is a scholarship that memorializes three outstanding women who have been instrumental in bringing the wrongfully convicted home and assisting with reintegration.  The scholarship fund established by Legacy Barber College is to assist students with tuition assistance.  

We are honored to carry on their legacy of determination and grit.

Jane Raley

Jane Raley was a tireless advocate for the wrongfully convicted and accused.  Jane spent 14 years at Northwestern University with the Center of Wrongful Convictions.  During this time Jane helped overturn many wrongful convictions giving a legacy of freedom and hope to every life that she touched.

Karen L. Daniel

Karen Daniels was a well known advocate for the  wrongfully convicted.  Karen led the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Center on Wrongful Convictions (CWC) and co-founded the Women’s Project of the Center on Wrongful Convictions.  Karen focused on wrongfully convicted women and the challenges that women face in the legally and personally.

Laura Caldwell

 Laura was a civil trial lawyer and professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law.  She served as the  director of Life After Innocence while at at Loyola.   She built a community for the wrongful convicted, and encouraged healing from the traumas of the past... So that it would be possible to embrace the future..
